So, the other day I was working at home. Now depending on the day we have different childcare arrangements. This day we had my mother-in-law looking after the Spawn in the house whilst I worked in the conservatory. I pop in to check everything is going well occasionally and most of the time it is.
Like every single kid in the world right now the Spawn is obsessed with the phenomenon that is Encanto. She cant get enough of Lin's songs and even though we are not at the talking stage yet I bet that if she could, she would want to talk about fucking Bruno. As and aside I have seen the film fully just the once and I thought it was okay, I can see the appeal. The Spawn must have seen the film 30-40 times already and it appears that it is not getting old any time soon.
In order for us to use Disney plus we run it through the PlayStation, the M-I-L doesn't fully know how to work the PlayStation (and why should she) so I offer to set up another trip to deep darkest Colombia. Once the tune of The Family Madrigal was echoing throughout the living room and sending the Spawn into the usual status of hypnosis it was time for me to go back to work.
I managed to get quite a bit done and I was on the phone having a pretty important phone call when the M-I-L appeared at the door to the conservatory with child in arm. I was coming to the end of the call and went out to see what was happening. There were some sounds coming from the living room that defiantly didn't sound like the joyous, ear worm tunes of Lin-Manuel Miranda.
It would appear that after the midday screening of Disney's finest the Spawn had somehow managed to put on the latest show to come from that little bastard mouse, Pam and Tommy. Pam and Tommy is most definitely not for kids, it is a series that portrays the period after the leaking of Pamela Andersons sex tape (which I have never seen, ever, honestly!) Now I am not sure exactly how this happened, and the M-I-L took the only action she could, remove said Child from the room.
After putting the shining beacon of Cbeebies back on the tv I went back to work.
Just a little example of how Encanto can turn into a Encounter you may not want to experience.
